The Casino – Where Gambling Is Elevated to an Art Form

A casino is a place where gambling is elevated to an art form. From opulent furnishings to overflowing bars, these are the decadent spots in which to throw down your chips and see what fate, or fortune, returns to you.

Gambling in all its forms has been a part of human civilization for millennia, with archeological evidence showing that wooden blocks were used to play games of chance in China as early as 2300 BC. Dice appeared in Rome and playing cards made their debut in the 1400s. Modern casinos are more than just gaming halls, however; they are also entertainment centers.

Casinos are found in almost every country on the planet, with the United States leading the race to have the most. Many cities and towns have a casino, with Las Vegas being the world’s biggest gambling mecca and Atlantic City and Chicago among America’s top gambling destinations.

Even smaller places have a casino, with Winstar World Casino in Oklahoma ranking among the world’s largest land-based casinos (if you count the whole compound). It is home to Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, which serves down-home fare including chicken fried steak and has a Dallas Cowboys bar, as well as several other restaurants. Its main casino, of course, is also enormous and features a plethora of blackjack and roulette tables. In addition, regular shows are put on at the main bar. The casino also boasts a collection of priceless artwork, with a special exhibit on the life of Oscar de la Hoya up for viewing.
