The first rule in Poker is to remember that the player who declines to fold a hand is considered a “dropper.” The player who refuses to fold is known as a “folder.” This means that the person no longer has a chance to compete for the pot. A full house consists of three matching cards of one rank and two cards of another. A flush is five cards of the same suit. Straight cards are five consecutive cards of the same rank.
The basic rules of poker are simple: you have to buy chips. There are several different types of chips in a poker game. The lowest-value chip is the white one. A red chip is worth five whites. A blue chip is worth ten, twenty or thirty-five whites. Then, each player “buys in” by purchasing a certain number of chips. Usually, all players buy in for the same amount of chips.
The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. Some games add a joker, but for most games, the deck is the same. The cards are ranked from Ace high to Ace low. A poker hand is composed of five cards, with each card having a numerical value. Some games also include Wild Cards, which take any suit, unless otherwise specified by the rules. When the player has the top hand, they must bet, which increases the pot value.
