Marketing for Casinos

A casino is a place where people come to let loose and enjoy themselves. It’s usually brightly decorated and has music that is upbeat. There are also many places to eat and drink and plenty of games for people to try their luck at. Casinos are all about the excitement of winning and losing, and it’s not always a matter of skill but more a matter of pure luck.

In the movie Casino, starring Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone, we get a bravura set piece in which Ginger exults in her ability to seduce men (“smart hustlers like her could keep a guy awake for two or three days”) while lacking any sense of self-control. Director Paul Verhoeven, evoking the Copacabana scene in Goodfellas, also uses a Steadicam to glide across the glitzy interior of a casino, entering into an inner circle where skimming money off slot machines is a well-oiled institutional system that Ace counts on.

The popularity of casinos has increased significantly over the last few years. Many of the biggest casinos in the world are located in major cities like Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Chicago. These casinos offer a wide range of entertainment, dining and hotel offerings as well as spas and health clubs. Because these casinos attract a diverse audience, their marketing needs to be very specific. The messaging and marketing for these casinos must be tailored to appeal to different types of customers with the goal of getting them to return.
